I am Running for the children NFE 2017 TCS New York City Marathon Help me Support a Child in need

Douglas Winter

I am greatful for the oppertunity to run in this years NYC Marathon in honor of Robert Ferriggiari, I will be raising donations for the Childrens Tumor Foundation a foundation that Robert was deeply involved with; together with your support lets honer Robert's courage, strength, and compassion for others. the Childrens Tumor Foundation needs your support; the children in need are many I thank you in advance for your donation.     NF causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body and can lead to blindness, bone abnormalities, cancer, deafness, disfigurement, learning disabilities, and excruciating and disabling pain. NF is under-recognized and underdiagnosed yet affects more people than cystic fibrosis, Duchenne muscular dystrophy and Huntington’s disease combined.  The Children’s Tumor Foundation funds critical research to find treatments for NF.     Please consider making a donation to my fundraising page to help #ENDNF.

 Raising funds to end NF!

Jaewon Sheldon

I was first introduced to the Children's Tumor Foundation (CTF) by my cousin, Katie, who recently lost a good friend, Rob Ferruggiari, to Neurofibromitosis (NF). On November 5, I will be running in memory of Rob, and for a boy named Alexander who, at four years old, has already seen 11 different specialists and had 5 MRI's under full anesthesia. Doctors discovered inoperable tumors on Alex's back and brain when he was two years old. The tumors have been growing slowly but, fortunately, haven't yet seemed to affect his love of telling jokes or chasing his older brother around.    Alex's mom, Diane, is also a HUGE inspiration; after learning about her son's illness in 2013, she ran hundreds of miles and raised over $70,000 for CTF. Last year, she was diagnosed with a rare disease that left her paralyzed. But, motivated by her son and the importance of his battle, she defied all physical therapy expectations and finished a full-length marathon less than one year after her diagnosis. I mean, wow.    Running 26.2 miles is probably one of the hardest things I will ever attempt to do. But, I know that the hours of training and miles of pain through which I will suffer won't compare to the hardships these kids with NF must endure.  Tumor is such an ugly word and, unfortunately, it has become too familiar to us all. That's why I'm making a pledge to help find a cure, one disease at a time.    A BIG thank you for taking the time to visit my page and learn more about my cause. I hope you can make a donation -- no amount is too small in the fight for kids!
